NTSB released the annual aviation accident statistics for
2011 for US Civil Aviation.
Salient features are as follows:
NO fatalities in air carrier operations and in scheduled
commuter operations.
Fatalities increase in on demand Part 135 operations from 6
to 16 and accidents from 31 to 50 in 2011 as compared to 2010
Accident rate per 100,000 hrs for on-demand part 135
operations increased from 1.00 in 2010 to 1.50 in 2011
U.S. civil aviation accidents on the whole rose from 1,500
in 2010 to 1,550 in 2011. Fatalities on the whole also increased, from 473 in
2010 to 485 in 2011.
General aviation accidents reduced from 268 in 2010 to 263
in 2011.
General Aviation fatalities declined from 454 in 2010 to
444 in 2011

ReplyDeleteThe report hasn't released the specifics yet.Looking for it, however, DOT has asked FAA to address runway incursions which seem to top the list annually along with runway safety incidents, this could be a lead.
